  1. That’s an interesting angle on the revival of old shows. In the UK, most TV is going in the completely opposite direction. I cannot think of a current popular programme that doesn’t heavily feature people who are black, mixed-race, or Asian. They also all have gay characters, and transgender ones on occasion too. Many top dramas feature disabled actors in prominent roles. This applies to almost everything, from long-running daily soap operas, to big-budget dramas.
    The main exception is historical drama, where the casting generally reflects the social structure of those times.
